Sam Alarastas, the cousin of Mika, was admitted to C00LeS WaReZ UNiON on July 8, 1994, making him the first member added to the crew besides the original 4. He impressed CWU because of DARK MAN, his 24-hour BBS (the first in the local Hautataipale area) and its ANSI art. After it was revealed that the board was owned by Sam, Mika made the executive decision to initiate Sam into the crew, and DARK MAN set up as CWU's WHQ, in order to avoid CWU being surpassed in eliteness. (The board, which was previously running SBBS software, was switched to PCBoard soon after to comply with mR. mEgAsTuFf's demands.) Sam's coding and graphics skills elevated the crew, but his gentle personality leads him to occasionally clash with Mika's more aggressive and controlling style.
Sam is the son of Arja Kärkkäinen-Alarastas. Besides his interest in computers, Sam also likes to read.
Sam later becomes sysop of the board Final Light, appointing his girlfriend schistic as the co-sysop.
